Of course - I want to write about the last year. About the move. About the birth, about all the reasons school had no formal place in our routine and why our life FINALLY settled down into the most perfect and conducive place for school. Sigh. But - I can't. At least not today. But - I am gonna post about One Room School housing - and Queens Curric and my own sorta mash up of nature school + Stiener and some pictures.
So - here is day one. I skipped to lesson 21 for Autumn lesson in the Come and See science book.
i skimmed it - google images of the Tiger moth/ whooly bear caterpillar and put examples on the board for the kidlings to copy. I wrote the words in Hugos lessson book and he drew his pictures while I read the lesson story to them. Tilde wrote the words and showed off her skillz as a rock star artist. She did her cursive lessons (from Queens) and Hugo practiced writing his name and the number 1 and the letter A. we used our dry erase cards to practice writing and identifying "baby" A. We had also read the story of "A" in our waldorf catechism curriculum.
Today was day two - so Hugo wrote his number 2 and practiced line drawing to help him with his hand writing. We told a made up story about a Bear and Bee who are best friends - and he drew the pics.
Todays story from Come and See science book.
was about migrating birds - so that was our drawing portion of the lesson while I read the lesson allowed. I helped Hugo practice letters while Tilde did her Queens cursive.
And bam. School for the day. We have fivehundredthousendbajjilion errands to run - so - the simple introduction for the year has been so sweet. Just feeling like this is doable. To them and me. We are already stoked for the year. Tilde has her chapter book assignment - but she has to do that on her time ( which we havent had YET :'( ) but all in all - I feel like I will rock it this year. This new life, new house, new world we have entered - man - it makes everything so easy!!!! Here is a pic of the new digs. ( ya know that 19 acres that we stumbled across... :D )
